Abstract

Disaster education is one of the essential preconditions for improving the preparedness of society and citizens for timely and adequate response in such situations. For these reasons, various traditional and innovative ways of educating young people about disasters are used, which aim to improve their resilience to various natural and anthropogenic disasters. Using the literature review, the authors elaborate systematically the essential characteristics of disaster education, but also the characteristics and ways of applying multimedia content in such a process. Without neglecting the importance of traditional educational methods, the authors present the primary modalities of acquiring knowledge about disasters through school programs to review their safety in school facilities. The results of the review work show that there is a severe available social and scientific-pragmatic environment for the design and implementation of multimedia content in educating young people about disasters. It is necessary to continue researching this area to improve the understanding of all the advantages and disadvantages of using multimedia for educational purposes.
